Constantly curious about flicks, Max Roth, as a young man, aspired to be a film writer, yet ended up in the outwardly much more ruthless globe of talent scout in Los Angeles. His glitzy city life takes a mild detour when he discovers that just recently deceased May Sprague, who is even more frequently described as May Sugar - his maternal aunt that he barely keeps in mind - has left him her little peach orchard in Peachland in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia.
